Virtual Concert Now Live

Copthorne Silver Band formed over 100 years ago, and seldom have we faced the challenges brought by the Coronavirus pandemic. Lockdown has made us all a little bit better acquainted with technology and we have been rehearsing virtually for the past 14 weeks. We rehearse for our own pleasure, but also so we can entertain. Many gigs have been cancelled this year, so we decided to bring you our Lockdown Concert.

Recordings from previous live performances, virtual band practices and images from the bands history have been brought together in this 20 minute concert. This Lockdown Concert is dedicated to all the members of the Band past and present. Those who during challenging times over the last 118 years strove to keep our band alive.

If you enjoyed our efforts please donate through https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/copthornesilverband to keep the Band alive and support Crawley Open House.

We’ll make a bonfire of our troubles and we’ll watch them blaze away and when they’ve all gone up in smoke clouds,
we’ll never worry should they come another day
and as the bonfire keeps on burning,
happy days will be returning,
while the band keeps playing
we’ll let our troubles blaze away

Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you at an event in person in the near future.

We’re back and ready for a new year

We are pleased to finally get our website back up and running after resolving some technical issues! We have now finalised our programme for 2020 and look forward to welcoming you to one of our upcoming engagements. However we welcome any other bookings – please get in touch with any enquiries.

Our first date for 2020 is Thursday 20th February when we have our first Open Evening of the year. Come along for a free evening of music (refreshments included). We also welcome all ages to come along and try a Brass or Percussion instrument.

Capel Show 2019

On Saturday 17th August we were delighted to once again perform at the Capel Show. The weather was again almost perfect – bar a few showers later in the afternoon.

Our set included a wide variety of music starting with classic march Star Lake before moving on to more contemporary pieces such as The Greatest Show, Pirates of the Caribbean (two different versions!) and The Lion King. We finished with Goff Richards’ arrangement An American Trilogy to top off a very enjoyable afternoon.

A special thank you to our visiting players and also to our wonderful conductor Chris. We are looking forward to returning to the Capel Show next year on Saturday 15th August 2020. Our next outing will be to the Horley Lions Club Country Fair and Dog Show on Sunday 8th September.

Summer 2018 Update

The first half of the year has been a very exciting one for the band. Following the appointment of Chris as our new conductor, we have gained several new members and have played in several engagements.

If you missed us why not check out our upcoming engagements? We are looking forward to playing again at the Capel Show on Saturday 18th August and we have to see you there!

On Sunday 13th May we travelled to Horsham to give a concert in the Bandstand in the Park. We were blessed with excellent weather and a good turnout. Here are a few photos from the performance.

We also played the annual Copthorne Carnival on Saturday 30th June during which we battled through the heat to showcase some of the music we have been working on this year. I am still trying to track down any photos/videos from this event and will post them here if they materialise!
